Im personally not one to sit through a horror film, but this was an exseption. I will not denie that i hid my face and screamed several times durring the film, but it was the perfect amount. Not to mention the amazing plot that made the movie not only horror but as well mystery. I would suguest everyone go see this, it is by far my favorite horror film.

This is a very atmospheric, old-fashioned ghost story. No huge twists, but very satisfying plot nevertheless. The acting was solid - nice to see Daniel Radcliffe in a more grown-up role. The setting was suitably eerie - seriously, who lives in these decaying old mansions? If you like "The Haunting", "The Others", and ghost stories like Henry James's "The Turn of the Screw", you will like this movie. Do not see it if you are one of those people who watches every horror movie and goes "Yeah, right." I grant you that any sane person would have bugged out of the haunted house in the first ten minutes. That is beside the point. Also, avoid it if monkeys and clowns freak you out. Not too scary for preteens and up, but probably too much for the 10 and under set.

This is the kind of creepy, old school horror that you remember scaring the heck out of you as a kid. Wonderful movie that brings back the best of jump out of your seat scariness. Daniel Ratcliff is awesome, and the townspeople and back story all come together for a great old school, suspenseful horror film. It's nice to have classic creepy horror back in the (movie) house!

As a fan of the play, I was very excited to see "The Woman in Black", and I have to say that, while the movie doesn't work quite as well as the play does, it's still good scary fun. There's lots of creepy atmosphere, some good jump out of your seat moments and excellent performances. I found it refreshing to see a horror film where you didn't have to listen to the lead actor "pant in terror" for the whole of the movie. Daniel Radcliffe did an excellent job and managed to avoid the acting cliches that so many actors fall into with this genre. His was a calm, measured performance that made all the creepy stuff that much more upsetting because you weren't being spoon-fed the emotions for each scene by his performance. You got to discover how scared you were for yourself. Nice. I would have liked a little more dialoge and the pacing was a little slow, but other than that I thought the film was great. Definitely worth paying to see the film in the theater. Go see it! :)

Definitely a good movie if you want to jump out of your seat a few times. The acting was top-notch; the directing done well; the cinematography captured the time period very well (dank, wet, foggy England); well written. Depending on the maturity of your kids, this might scare the young ones (younger than 12) too much. Lots of noises and visuals to keep on scaring you long after you've left the theater and are in your home, at night, in the dark. ;)
